Job Description

As a data scientist, you can turn these complex data sets into useful information to solve global challenges related to power, fuels, water, and critical infrastructure. We have an opportunity for you to use your analytical skills to improve our business. You will be working with a collaborative and innovative team of data analysts, data scientists, and data engineers working together to deploy cutting edge modeling and analytics to meet our clients’ energy, climate, and resilience needs. You’ll work closely with your customer to understand their questions and needs, then dig into their data-rich environment to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You’ll apply analytical skills and use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn that set of disparate data points into objective answers to help clients make informed decisions. You’ll provide your customer with a deep understanding of their data, what it all means, and how they can use it. Join us as we use data science for good in consulting. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely.

You Have:

• Experience with data mining, statistics, machine learning, graph algorithms, programming, or developing, including Agile methodologies and tools
• Experience with wrangling data or extracting usable data from valuable data sources
• Knowledge of an object-oriented language, including Python, R, or Java
• Knowledge of business intelligence applications, dashboard, and data charting and visualization
• Ability to perform data gathering, analytical, and problem-solving work
• Ability to enhance data collection procedures of all such information for developing analytic systems
• Ability to program and configure business intelligence tools, including Tableau, Power BI, and Qlik, back-end and create front-end dashboards and visualizations
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

• Experience in the energy industry or a related field
• Experience with extract, transform, and load (ETL) in parallel processing and distributed compute environments
• Experience with designing novel machine learning methods and workflows, including full data pipelines from raw data through predictions
• Experience with using Perl, SAS, SPSS, C++, or C# for data analysis
• Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Possession of excellent interpersonal skills
• Bachelor's degree in Data Science preferred; Master's degree in Data Science a plus
