Salesforce is embarking on our own Digital Transformation to deliver customer success for our customers and accelerate our growth. A key pillar of this transformation is making data insights and intelligence visible through data visualization applications for our marketing, sales, and customer teams.

We’re looking for an experienced and committed data visualization leader who would own and deliver data visualization applications to serve our teams in Salesforce Marketing and Salesforce Digital Experience. This leader will bring expertise in designing data visualization systems that are efficient at querying the underlying data stores, responsive to user input, and valuable to collaborators. This leader will work closely with product management, data engineering, data analysts, and other collaborator teams to support them by delivering data insights through visualizations and interactive data products.

This leader will bring deep expertise in building rich interactive applications on Tableau, CRM Analytics (previously Tableau CRM/Einstein Analytics), D3, and similar data visualization systems. Their robust SQL and data modeling expertise will enable them to work closely with data engineers to design the most efficient data structures for the data visualization applications on large-scale transactional data stores.

This role will also be responsible for evangelizing data visualization throughout the organization by designing, developing & maintaining visual displays of all the marketing performance measurement metrics. This role will be responsible for the overall data visualization vision, delivery of data visualization products, and enablement of visualization products to our collaborators. The role will play a player/coach role who can get hands-on with building and coaching the team on standard methodologies.

The right candidate will have strong data visualization skills, a consistent record of working with collaborators, experience leading data visualization product backlogs, and expertise in communicating with mid to premier management leaders. Experience supporting marketing and sales business unit visualizations is a huge plus.

This leader will develop a team of data visualization guides across multiple locations and will be accountable for the end delivery of data visualization products built in partnership with internal and external design and user experience teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end roadmap and work for all data visualization needs across the marketing and digital experience organization
  • Lead a group of data visualization engineers to help them design, develop, implement and refine complex CRM Analytics and Tableau dashboards based on visualization standard methodologies and collaborator feedback
  • Gather, refine and validate complex business and data requirements, interdependencies, and potential risks relating to data production and visualization needs
  • Look for opportunities to automate recurring visualizing needs and present data insights in an intuitive format to simplify the collaborator experience and decision making
  • Assist and lead developers in the development of project plans, outlining business requirements, developing data models and visualizations
  • Partner with our business collaborators to tightly lead and communicate timelines, capacity planning, prioritization, and tasks for many concurrent data visualization and reporting projects to ensure deadlines are hit without overloading the team
  • Be prepared for changes in business direction and understand when to adjust designs.
  • Develop and provide enablement of the dashboards and data products to various teams.
  • Define standards and procedures for best practices for data visualization intelligence design & development.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation and training materials related to software and hardware used for visualization.
  • Able to identify incomplete data, improve the quality of data, and integrate data from several data sources and transactional database systems.
  • Collaborate with Analysts and developers on the efficient use of visualization tools and how those technologies can be applied to create effective data visualization applications.
  • Demonstrate operational excellence and a strong can-do attitude
  • Ensure data visualization applications comply with Salesforce Trust and Accessibility standards

Qualification and Skills

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Statistics or equivalent/related degree.
  • 10+ years of Data Visualization experience using Tableau or Einstein Analytics. Experience with Salesforce Einstein Analytics is a huge plus.
  • Authority in Tableau and ideally Einstein Analytics (Tableau CRM) business and development standards and best practices related to reports, lenses, dashboards, and all related dashboard and data objects.
  • Authority in the visual representation of complex information for driving business impact. Must be able to select the appropriate charts and visualization approaches for the business needs and data structures. Bonus if you have studied Tufte or other masters in data visualization.
  • Shown expertise in building advanced data visualization applications on Tableau and/or similar data visualization platforms. This includes demonstrated mastery of building complex data visualization applications using features such as Tableau Actions, Window and Table Calculations, URL and Parameter Actions, Tableau Extracts and Refresh approaches, embedded SQL, and similar areas of expertise.
  • Expertise in building data visualization applications on top of one or more cloud databases like Google BigQuery, Amazon RedShift, Snowflake, and similar systems. Must have experience creating and improving the engineering of data visualization applications on large-scale data sets (100M+ rows per month).
  • Strong SQL skills and database expertise. Shown ability to construct effective queries of multiple data sets with knowledge of all join types, nested queries, window functions, and similar advanced SQL topics.
  • Solid experience in design thinking and using design approaches to create data products that delight end users and add new value for the business.
  • Shown interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills – must be able to explain technical concepts and analysis implications clearly to a wide audience.
  • Ability to quickly learn and gain a deep understanding of SFDC business processes. Experience in Marketing Analytics (Lead management, Pipe metrics, Events/Campaigns, B2B marketing journey) is a huge plus.
  • Domain Authority and Evangelist on enterprise data, visualization, data analysis, data modeling, SQL constructs, and workload management.
  • Experience with creating data visualization enablement content to enable analysts, end users, and leadership teams
  • Outstanding structured thinking with keen attention to detail. Shown analytical, problem identification, and resolution skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a semi-structured and fast-paced environment, and have a high degree of self-management with clear communication and commitment to delivery timelines.
  • Ability to prioritize and implement multiple tasks in a highly dynamic environment with a result-oriented attitude.
