Job Description

FiscalNote is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Data Analytics team, responsible for the enterprise-level analytics and reporting that impact decision-making across the company. You will work closely with our SLT and product, engineering, sales, finance, and other operational teams to identify KPIs and deliver impactful reporting tools to measure how our business is performing, how we interact with our clients and prospects, and how they use our products, and actionable analytics to improve operational efficiencies, customer experience, and financial performance.

About the Team

The Research and Development (R&D) Department at FiscalNote is where the magic happens. The Data Analytics team provides cross-functional data insights to leaders across the organization to power data-driven decision-making. The team is responsible for the analytical technology stack collecting and analyzing data from the entire organization to provide insights into improving business operations, product usage, and customer experience across multiple platforms and thousands of clients. Its core mission is to understand the business and impact decision-making across all departments through the use of data.

About You

You understand that product and business teams need to have trust in the accuracy of incoming data in order to shape their decision-making around it, and become uncomfortable when you notice anything is amiss and choose to relentlessly seek out solutions. You believe that data and analytics need to be relevant, actionable, and timely and that the most comprehensive data collection and accurate analytical model that does not change action is useless. You’re comfortable around ambiguity with a high degree of autonomy and are excited about solving complex, open-ended problems by distilling the complexity as simply as necessary to build solutions that work. Along the way, you’re capable of communicating what you’re thinking to both technical and non-technical audiences, taking in others’ ideas as well as expressing your own.

What to Expect in this Position:

  • Guide the strategy for acquiring, integrating, and analyzing data from a variety of product and operational data sources and assist in the development of data products and reporting tools to provide stakeholders with relevant and actionable information
  • Collaborate with engineering and data teams to help refine and enhance existing tools, processes, and workflows.
  • Responsible for developing and managing the analytics team, facilitating their growth in technical and non-technical areas.
  • Deliver and operationalize analytics and recommendations based on findings
  • Serve as data analytics expert to establish and communicate best practices for the team and internally to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Define architectural and data governance requirements, in collaboration with other senior leaders
  • Collaborate across R&D to drive and advocate data analytics priorities integrated with data, engineering, UX, and product work, identifying user pain points and communicating opportunities for data analytics in the R&D roadmap.

What Sets You Apart:

  • 7+ years of experience in data analysis and business intelligence
  • 2+ years leading or mentoring data analysts and engineers
  • Demonstrated experience in designing enterprise solutions for data operations, capture, ETL, reporting and visualization (e.g. Stitch, Heap, Segment, Looker, Tableau, Google Data Studio)
  • Proven record of translating business problems into data problems
  • Proactive communication skills with experience guiding results across cross-matrixed teams
  • Experience in establishing, implementing, and socializing analytics best practices with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • An independent motivation to solve problems

Considering US locations only for this position and time zone requirements may apply in order to address team and business needs.
