Job Description:

• AFS National Security Portfolio is seeking a data scientist who is excited about using technical skills to have a positive impact on national security by providing quantitative modeling and research.
• The objective of the project is to employ data science and machine learning techniques to construct a holistic pattern of life to understand, detect, and predict anomalies based on large volumes of data.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development of analytical methods to identify anomalies and statistical models to predict changes using advanced analytic methods
• Integrate data from variety of sources, formats, and disciplines into coherent databases
• Create documentation and reports for senior decision makers

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (Mathematics, statistics etc.) Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• 5 years experience using R or related software package 
• 5 years experience performing complex modeling and statistical analysis

Desired Skills:

• Ability to create code and models to perform operations
• Experience integrating data from multiple sources in various formats into a single database 
• Excellent oral and written communication
• High attention to detail 
• Experience with advanced analytical methods such as ordinal logistics regression, copulas, LASSO/elastic nets, bootstrapping, and k-fold cross validation

Security Clearance:

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph required
