Title: Sr. Specialist (Data Science) – Social Media Analytics

About the role:

The Sr. Specialist in the Social Media Analytics team will help in generating actionable insights for driving the creation of fact-based research from social media or other user-sourced data. At the core we are looking for a person who is adaptable & agile, can multi-task at ease, passionate about learning new technologies, text analytics, digging into rows of unstructured data, drawing recommendations & insights, and using creative ways to visualize & interpret it for research. This person will have a flair of innovation along with a strong exposure to Python, data science and the analysis of unstructured data. They would be working closely with various stakeholders to explore opportunities to optimize data mining techniques and improve the accuracy of insights generated, with an additional responsibility of guiding & mentoring junior associates on high-impact projects.

What you will do:

  • Translate research objectives into data & fact-base from social media or text data
  • Analyze unstructured social media / text data to find insights and patterns, using advanced data science techniques
  • Interpret the patterns & insights in-line with the original research objective
  • Create innovative visualizations to represent the insights and create content around its usage in research
  • Solve most pressing business challenges with data science, ML and NLP in the center
  • Interact with internal & external stakeholders to improvise on the findings
  • Work as part of a team in an extremely fast paced work environment with strict SLA’s and fast turnaround time (week or two at maximum)
  • Be responsible for owning & independently driving data science driven initiatives with some guidance
  • Develop strong understanding of Tech. industry and expertise in data science domain
  • Multi-task and be agile to handle different projects and engagements at the same time
  • Guide and Coach Specialists on finer aspects of coding, algorithms, threading and efficiency

What you will need:

  • Graduate/post-graduate degree in data science, data analytics, statistics, computer science or Graduate + MBA (Analytics) from leading A or B-schools
  • 3-6 years’ experience in data science / machine learning / social media analytics / text analytics role, with exposure to unstructured datasets
  • Proficient in Python (i.e. Pandas, Numpy, scikit-learn, etc), R, TensorFlow, amongst other data science related tools, libraries, and experience of working with GitHub
  • Ability to apply various analytical models to business use cases (NLP, Supervised, Un-Supervised, Neural Nets, etc.)
  • Own all aspects of accessing and using text data, including data cleaning, data normalization, and data preparation to be used for training, testing or inference
  • Must have a strong background in visualization: Powerpoint, PowerBI & Tableau etc.
  • Analytical bent of mind with the ability to analyze data, identify patterns from unstructured data sets and to draw useful insights / recommendations from them.
  • Robust understanding of basic primary and secondary research techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate qualitative and quantitative analysis into actionable business strategies
  • Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills and the ability to think independently. Able to work on estimation problems and provide insightful analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: Should structure all communication for meaning and flow with strong command on English language.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of business, data science and technical stakeholders
  • Outstanding project management skills (projects involving internal and external stakeholders) with ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize workloads and own outcomes
  • Experience in mentoring & guiding junior associates in Data Science & Data Interpretation
