Evernorth’s Data Science Center of Expertise (CoE) applies advanced Data Science (DS), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to produce solutions that reduce customer health costs and improve outcomes and business processes. Using state of the art AI tools, DS platforms, ML libraries, and optimization tools, we leverage internal, external, online and offline data sources comprising clinical, pharmacy, provider, and behavioral/attitudinal data.
This position is with Evernorth, a new business within the Cigna Corporation.
Role Summary
This is a hands-on management role, combining model-building work and team management. The manager will lead the Opportunity Detection (OD) group within the CoE. The OD group seeks to automate the identification of opportunities for our provider contracting partners to pursue.
Using your knowledge of ML / AI, statistics, and software engineering, you and your team will build technologies to improve operational efficiencies within critical business processes. Your work will require deep acquaintance with Evernorth’s data, seeking to find ways to deliver value through advanced feature engineering. From your models you will deliver actionable insights that will deliver value to the business. In addition to collaborating with Data Science Management to establish strategic priorities, you will work closely with Data & Engineering to deliver code that is robust and ready to scale.
The ideal candidate for this role will have strong coding skills (preferably in Python), a passion for creating technology to improve health care, and experience managing a team of data scientists.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $125,300 - $208,900, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
