About the Job

Data and analytics are the lifeblood of TaskRabbit and we are building a data science team to provide key insights to drive our business forward.

You will be a member of the Data Group: Data Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning and Data Engineering. We are a force multiplier, owning the data, analysis, and knowledge infrastructure that enables ourselves and our teammates to move faster and smarter.

As a data scientist focusing on growth, you will work closely with a cross functional team of product managers, marketing managers, designers, and engineers. You will apply various predictive and statistical modeling techniques to solve complex multi-faceted marketplace problems and optimize outcomes for all parties. You will assist defining metrics and KPIs, design experiments to validate hypotheses and translate data into insights that would improve product, marketing and operational metrics.

As part of the Data Group, you will collaborate with other Data Scientists, drawing on their technical skills and expertise. Also, you will work with Data Engineers to ensure that the data platform and infrastructure provides you with the data and tools you need to do your job.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the business goals, ask right questions, define metrics, analyze patterns and trends, extract key findings, evaluate feasibility with available data, develop solutions, and communicate the results back to business
  • Identify growth opportunities based on data and provide well organized analysis for open ended questions
  • Evaluate the impact of new features, conduct controlled experiments and provide advanced data analysis using statistical modeling techniques such as regression, classification, time series modeling, causal inference and clustering. 
  • Help stakeholders make better business decisions with insights and actionable recommendations
  • Become a subject-matter expert on marketplace and supply/demand dynamics

Qualifications:

We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Below gives you a sense of how we're thinking about what you'll need to be successful in the role.

  • BS or above in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field
  • 3+ years experience in a data science role or equivalent
  • Strong experience with SQL
  • Knowledgeable in Python programming
  • Experience in solving business real world business problems with predictive and statistical learning methods
  • Excellent statistical intuition and knowledge of various approaches such as causal inference, hypothesis testing, sampling
  • Great communication skills, both written and oral; comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with CDP, DBT, Looker, Tableau, or similar tool is a plus
