We are looking for a candidate for a temporary position who has not yet graduated and is working as part of an internship towards a relevant Master's from a relevant academic institute. This position is part of a research team in Munich, Germany at the heart of the industrial control and automotive industry and will support a new area of research for the next generation of Internet of Things for automation in industrial control, smart city, robotics and automated driving.

Tasks:

  • Work as part of the team on robustness and uncertainty estimation analyses of perception and prediction modules present in automated driving, robotics, and smart city applications.
  • Select one or more representative safety-critical scenarios in these autonomous systems where robust and trustworthy measures of AI models used for these modules are crucial.
  • Create a demo integrating perception and prediction modules for these safety- critical scenarios using open-source simulators.
  • Evaluate the impact of uncertainties on this safety-critical scenario using uncertainty estimation and calibration techniques.
  • Potential impact of platform faults on this safety-critical scenario is also preferred to be analyzed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate meets the following criteria:

  • Pursuing studies in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics or other related fields with a focus on Artificial Intelligence
  • Programming Skills in Python, C++, C
  • Good background in AI methods especially CNN, LSTM, and their performance metrics
  • AI frameworks: preferably PyTorch
  • Knowledge in dependability preferred
  • Knowledge in robustness and uncertainty topics in AI preferred
  • Excellent English is a must, German knowledge advantageous
