We have an exciting advanced analytics charter and initiatives to help Amazon’s advertising programs achieve their goals. We drive success for our customers by helping the business owners build strategies, measure success and make decisions along the way with our analytical products/tools powered by ML and data science.

In your role as a Data Engineer, you will work alongside and support a highly technical team of advance analysts, data scientists, Business intel engineers, data engineers and marketers. You will be responsible for establishing end-to-end data infrastructure for the team's advanced analytics, reporting and decision science wing.

This position will be based in New York.

A day in the life

On a typical day, you will work backwards from the data and reporting requirements from data scientists, stakeholders and cross functional teams. You will understand how Ad and ML products are designed and operate, establish data infrastructure for fueling the research initiatives. Partner with engineers to identify data sources, understand existing data pipeline, improve old and build new pipelines and close gaps on data quality. You will then leverage data to build data models, design DBs that can help the business make strategic decisions.

About the team

The Global Ads Marketing's Advanced Analytics wing has a very unique mission - to drive success of Amazon Ads’ marketing programs with a scientific approach. We are part of and support Amazon Ads entire global marketing team that works with all advertising customers, ad products, and regions, and the BI team aims to evolve the way marketers thinks about marketing effectiveness from direct content usage to business impact, and enable leaders to audit resource allocation and continuously pursue improved outcomes. To do this, we apply data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning (ML) to build decision science solutions that scale.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in SQL

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Data Engineering, Applied Data Science, Data and Web Science, or related certification
  • Knowledge of systems engineering to optimize integration of data service/software solutions with data infrastructure
  • Proven track record of applying data engineering for enabling business analytics (Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Finance, etc.)
  • Experience using business intelligence reporting tools (AWS QuickSight, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience working with AWS big data technologies (EMR, S3, Kinesis, Redshift, Sagemaker etc.)
  • Familiarity with ML and MLOps is a plus
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for the best practices on data engineering
