Job Description

As the senior technical product manager for the geoanalytics product line you will be working on the cutting edge of geospatial big data analysis. In a world where data is only getting bigger, you will lay the product foundation that empowers GIS professionals to go beyond what they thought was possible to take on the challenges of epic scale. You will also pave the way for non-GIS data scientists to incorporate geospatial analytics into their pipelines and models, delivering product that aligns with who they are and how they need to work.

The geoanalytics product line spans desktop software, server software, software-as-a-service, and Spark-native offerings. It is an excellent opportunity to work at the crossroads of GIS and mainstream data science and take on significant product ownership.

This role requires a highly driven, self-motivated individual who will work across Esri teams, partners, international distributors, and a broad range of customers to champion the needs of the multiple user personas. Your role will have high visibility to Esri leadership and the broader ArcGIS community.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong understanding of big data technologies and the competitive landscape to guide product roadmaps and strategy. You should feel comfortable evaluating trade-offs and quantifying risk so that you can make strategic recommendations to development, engineering, marketing, and Esri leadership
  • Gather requirements from several different sources including from customer interactions
  • Present and evangelize the product in the user community and at trade shows, conferences, hackathons and through webinars, publications, and social media
  • Assist in competitive analysis
  • Plan and manage the product lifecycle of each aspect of the GeoAnalytics product line
  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Business Development, Product Marketing, and Technical Support to successfully launch new releases

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management
  • Experience with big data products
  • Experience with Python, Spark, and/or an API-based product
  • Experience managing products that have multiple implementation options and/or architectural patterns (SaaS, server software, desktop software, APIs, etc.)
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at the technical level
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills
  • Ability to travel as needed

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience with GIS software and spatial analysis
