 The Customer Insights department is looking for data savvy professionals to join our team of data scientists. You will have the opportunity to use data to generate insights that will be used across various departments of our business to help us predict and understand our customers’ behaviour, enabling us to offer them the most relevant personalised experience.

About the Customer Insights Team:

In Customer Insights our mission is to create a competitive advantage by building a clear understanding of customers’ total travel behavior. One of the foundational tasks to deliver this is to create a source of truth in the company for Trips Data, both at at a transactional and Customer level. Some of the main projects to deliver this involve connecting data from different products, bringing the connected trip to life in our data bases, metrics and insights, creating a data warehouse, applying use cases of this data to the business such as cross selling opportunities and many more to come.

As a Data Manager you will supports the implementation of processes for how data is produced and consumed within the Accommodations Business Unit, including governance, architecture, and quality, in order to meet evolving business objectives and technology landscapes. You will support ownership in the central Accommodations Data Organization, and help influence on topics such as data management, governance and ownership and ensure the oversight and architecture of data flows.

B. Responsible

Important aspects of the job include:

  • Support the creation of physical data models that can be operationalised within the company’s workflows and infrastructure to ensure that data solutions meet business requirements
  • Support the mapping of data flows between systems and workflows across the company to drive efficiency and ensure proper controls
  • Support the implementation of efficient data ingestion solutions, batch processing, and event-based streams to enable real-time actions and rapid business decisions
  • Connect datasets from different systems into a unified solution to deliver high-value data
  • Monitor relevant SLIs and SLOs to support ownership of data solutions end-to-end
  • Support the definition of quality requirements for data assets, based on standards for all data quality dimensions, to ensure design of high-quality data solutions

  • Develop data validation solutions for validating values and schemas and use them to ensure data accuracy and reliability
  • Implement solutions for monitoring, failure detection, and data availability and use them to ensure data timeliness and completeness
  • Build software applications by using the relevant development languages for the systems, services and tools used by the specific business area
  • Ensure data timeliness based on business requirements by driving strategy and implementation of monitoring and failure detection

  • Beginner knowledge of data modeling methods (Relational, Dimensional)
  • Intermediate knowledge of data quality requirements and implementation methodologies
  • Intermediate knowledge of Data Management requirements based on best practices, e.g. DAMA-DMBOK
  • Intermediate knowledge of one or more database querying languages or scripting tools, e.g. SQL, VBA, Pandas, R
  • Driven and results oriented personality
  • Open to feedback and always looking for ways to improve own performance
  • Able to understand details while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.
