Job Description

As a Data Scientist at IBM, you will help transform our clients’ data into tangible business value by analyzing information, communicating outcomes and collaborating on product development. Work with Best in Class open source and visual tools, along with the most flexible and scalable deployment options. Whether it’s investigating patient trends or weather patterns, you will work to solve real world problems for the industries transforming how we live.

This role is located ONSITE (after covid) Armonk, NY, New York, NY; Southbury, CT; Research Triangle Park, NC or Austin, TX

Your Role and Responsibilities

• Understand and promote the CIO Hybrid Cloud Platforms strategy and IBM’s strategy as the Hybrid Cloud and AI company
• Working with our domain operations leads, build a data platform that integrates with and combines data from disparate sources
• Discover ways to measure metrics related to value, efficiency, cost, best practices, and compliance
• Collaborate with our Hybrid Business Management team to provide analysis of hybrid cloud adoption hard and soft benefits
• Build dashboards and automated reports that further the COE’s goals and drive optimal behavior
• Work with platform teams to automate compliance and application architecture analysis
• Search for patterns using data and uncover tasks that can be automated
• Use data in an open way to iterate, innovate, and inspire

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related technical field
• 3+ years of experience with relevant programming languages such as Python, R, and/or Java
• 3+ years of SQL experience (NoSQL experience is a plus)
• Understanding of data science concepts
• Expertise with ETL and data visualization tools. Splunk experience is a plus
• Expertise in data analysis and managing large, complex datasets
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and application development concepts
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to drive buy-in with our stakeholders
• Possess confident analytical, creative, problem-solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
• Experience working in an agile, squad-based, continuous delivery development model

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience working with Kubernetes-based cloud platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift
• Experience working with IBM Cloud Pak for Data
• Experience working with machine learning frameworks
