WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Sr Data Scientist to join our global Consumer Data Science team. Located at our European HQ in Hilversum, this person will leverage data science AI and ML algorithms to understand Nike’s members to maximize our marketing and membership efforts. This role will use big data, distributed computing, and the latest ML technologies and algorithms to personalize Nike member’s experiences, as well as build data science best practices to respect the local consumer privacy and data protection law.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Utilize state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and/or statistical modeling.
  • Optimize marketing message delivery by considering members’ marketing preferences and behavior patterns.
  • Understand, describe, and predict the shopping behavior of our members in order to optimize customer acquisition, engagement, conversion, experience, and brand loyalty.
  • Work closely with our business partners on identifying opportunities that would enhance our member experiences through ML solutions.
  • Collaborate with Nike's privacy and legal teams, making sure we can introduce ML algorithms to the EMEA user base that respects local privacy and data collection regulations and guidelines.
  • Partner with other Nike personalization science and data engineering teams to improve data collection and navigate data integration challenges.
  • Partner with data engineering, machine learning platform, and product teams to automate, scale, and advance audience strategies for targeted marketing and evaluate results.
  • Collaborate with other data science teams to maximize the impact of the work and maintain highly aligned roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with the broader data science community within Nike.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH

You will be a part of Member Intelligence Data Science team and report to the Director of Audience Data Science. You will work and partner closely with the Sr Data Scientist on the Common Data Science team in EMEA as well as many teams such as Digital Product, Merchandising, Marketing, and Membership teams in EMEA. Consumer Data Science works in partnership with global and local engineering teams, Machine Learning Platform teams, and Consumer Insights.

Member Intelligence Data Science is part of Nike’s Consumer Data Science team and Insights function. In addition, as a member of the broader data science team at Nike, you will participate in our data science labs, study groups, and team activities.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Min 3-4 years of experience in data science
  • Experience contributing to technical roadmaps and representing them to business leaders.
  • Experience developing strong cross-functional partnerships with engineering, product, and analytic teams.
  • Ability to understand, utilize, and innovate on state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and/or statistical modeling.
  • An understanding of targeted marketing strategies leveraging data science modeling techniques.
  • Experience working with large-scale data and analytics in a distributed computing platform such as Spark and deploying models at scale.
  • Experience with A/B test experimentation processes.
  • Excellent communication and data visualization skills.
