In this role you will join the team developing solutions to a fundamental industry challenge: accurately measuring real-world AV performance on the roads of San Francisco. You’ll collaborate with the best minds in the AV industry as Cruise moves towards launching the first completely autonomous ride hailing service.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Explore and develop methods to control for environmental covariates
  • Measure the efficacy of causal inference (A/B) methods
  • Build new features to better understand on-road performance
  • Contribute to the Cruise’s roadmap through working closely with engineers, product managers and other stakeholders

What you must have:

  • Pursuing PhD in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Computer Science or other quantitative field)
  • Academic/industry experience in applying statistics, machine learning, optimization, economics, and analytics to real world problems
  • Practical command over SQL, Python, or similar analytical tools
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Extensive practical experience with exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis and testing, and model development

Bonus Points!

  • Prior experience with ride sharing or similar industries
  • Prior experience with causal inference methods
  • SQL or python methods and experience with big data analysis
  • Experience with productionizing algorithms
