Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • Provide statistics and visualization support to the technical community, including upskilling associates without data science background on the basics and leading training.
  • Execute and deliver on data science projects as part of a prioritized FDS agenda. Taking responsibility from inception (identification, planning, alignment and resourcing) to delivery and communication (data modelling and analysis, data management/governance and internal/external reporting)
  • Work with other data scientists and engineers to build data products that expand or make use of our data science capabilities to advance a range of research initiatives and applications. E.g. Working with various digital technology resources to build and deploy models across a continuum of digital applications, spanning basic data science tools like visualization through to automation and applications involving artificial intelligence.
  • Advocate the purpose of data-driven research, applying our data science framework, and work to high scientific standards. May be called upon to peer review scientific work and communicate with range of stakeholders on complex matters involving data science.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent Data Science related discipline
  • 5+ years’ professional experience working in a technical environment, such as R&D or Supply Chain
  • Proficiency working with statistical software (such as Minitab and/or JMP)
  • Hands on experience implementing visualization applications (such as Tableau and/or PowerBI) and working with large data volumes
  • Advanced knowledge in inferential statistical concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant math or data science
  • Working with common data science tools, automation, and/or artificial intelligence in corporate setting
  • At least 8 years’ professional experience in data science or related field
  • Experience with machine learning, deep learning, analytics, working knowledge of R (statistical computing) and/or Python.
  • Understanding of risk assessment and contingency planning.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • This role is a member of the Global S&T - Foundational Data Science team and serves as an individual contributor with expertise in statistics, visualization and/or data analytics. This role contributes independently and with some strategic guidance from the Associate Director, Foundational Data Science in support of Department strategy. This role will be a subject matter expert and elevate impact of a data science mindset by providing consult services to internal client groups within Global R&D.
  • This role will also be called upon to contribute expertise to other ‘added value’ initiatives as appropriate in service of the Global Foundational Data Science strategy, such as test and learns.
  • This role will be focused on applying subject matter expertise to advance technical initiatives and enable data based decision making. 
  • This position requires a blend of technical knowhow in statistics and analytics and strong collaboration capabilities. This role will also explore new digital technologies to solve existing and new data science challenges within R&D.
