Job Description

Sony is looking for a Data Scientist(Sr. Software Engineer)to analyze large amounts of raw data generated from its various projects and systems continuously, and to build data products to extract valuable insights and inferencing capabilities for enhancing the product and service components for one of its major product line.

In this role, the incumbent should be able to apply his/her knack for analysis, math and statistics. Should be able to critically examine and interpret the data and pre-process them using state of the art data pipeline. He/She should have a passion for data driven machine-learning and research. Collaborates with analytics and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.

In this role the candidate develops and maintains scalable data pipelines and realizes API integrations to support increasing data volume and complexity. Should be able to monitor data quality, devise processes and mechanisms to cleanse the data wherever required. Performs data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues. Should have ability to build automation needed for effective labelling of the data, perform data preparation, data augmentation where required to make the artificial intelligence components more accurate and beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with a team of frontend and backend engineers, product managers, and ML engineers.
• Design and development of data integrations and data quality framework.
• Realizes data assets (data models), create and maintain state of the art big data pipeline to populate data models.
• Evaluates and adopts open source and vendor tools for data lineage.
• Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes, Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data, and prepare them for ML/AI learning systems.
• Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns, validate the data for its accuracy and usefulness.
• Support enhancing the data set, provide labelling methodologies and perform data preparation for ML algorithm development.
• Present information using data visualization techniques

Skill Expectations

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst, any experience in data mining
• Strong experience with data manipulation using languages like Python or R; familiarity with Scala, raw data processing using Java or C++ is an asset
• Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and big data frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark
• Strong math skills of probability theory and statistics (e.g. algebra)
• Experience of statistical analysis with statistics hypothesis testing, regression analysis, predictive analytics, etc.
• Able to appropriately choose or create statistical models for business hypothesis and do testing on real data
• Possesses demonstrated mastery of SQL skills; Comfortable with database development, data migration & integration techniques
• Advanced ability to perform exploratory data analysis and experience with common data science toolkits
• Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way; Familiarity with data management tools
• Experience with machine learning and AI

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related;
• a graduate degree in Data Science or another quantitative field would also be considered.
• 4+ years of experience with proven skills including data mining, data processing, analysis and visualization

Desirable:

• Respond to ad hoc analysis requests and investigate data inconsistencies.
• Develop and maintain schemas by acquiring data from primary and secondary sources. Create solutions to make data extraction and evaluation more flexible or scalable.
• Evaluate internal systems for inefficiency and inaccuracies, develop and maintain protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning large quantities of data.
• Apply advanced business analytics principles to identify, analyze, interpret patterns in complex data sets. Use story telling techniques to present insights and influence department activities/direction.
• Develop and maintain creative, rich interactive visualizations through data interpretation and analysis integrating reporting components from multiple data sources.
• Will require flexible approach to working hours to support global business operations; Excellent communication and presentation skills, a great attention to detail.
