JOB SUMMARY: A scientific/strategic contributor with broad expertise in statistical methods and/or unique knowledge in relevant biostatistical methods for pharmaceutical research, and an ability to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways. Typically manages multiple projects within a client or within a specialized area across several clients. Acts as the project’s statistical lead and a primary point of contact for clients, developing mutually beneficial partnerships and taking ownership for the needs of the client.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise clients on suitable analysis methods to address their challenges and develop analysis proposals
- Develop protocols and statistical analysis plans to operationalize analysis proposals
- Responsibility for business development and/or project execution, including maintaining client relationships
- Provide critical feedback to team members on statistical methods, including secondary review of analysis proposals, protocols and statistical analysis plans
- Learn new statistical analysis methods and tools to meet project needs
- Keep abreast with regulatory, reimbursement and other industry requirements and guidelines (with an emphasis on statistical methods), including via active participation in scientific conferences and symposia.
- Build and maintain successful long-term relationships with clients. Maintain existing network of client relationships.
- Routinely identifies opportunities for follow on work.
- Manage project team to ensure specified deliverables are developed and undergo appropriate review and sign off.
- Responsible for the successful integration of the team on projects, quality of deliverables and the project team’s efficiency.
- Identify and communicate recruitment needs. Lead or participate in hiring and training consultants as requested.
- Ensure company and business unit policies, standards, and procedures are met.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Biostatistics. PhD highly desirable.
- Experience: 6-7 years of experience in clinical trials, health research or a statistical consulting environment.
Skills:
- Track record of designing and implementing statistical analyses.
- Track record of overseeing statistical analysis projects and mentoring/guiding statisticians.
- Strong ability to develop new statistical solutions for complex client analytics problems.
- Strong statistical programming skills in R
- Comfortable presenting and interfacing with senior executives within the clients. Strong technical-writing, oral communication and presentation skills, excellent use of the English language.
- Curious, collaborative, entrepreneurial and self-motivated, without the need for significant infrastructure and support, and with an understanding of the dynamics of high-growth companies; the ability to work effectively in a demanding, challenging, rapidly changing environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to gain respect of and influence management team, board members, the customer and prospect communities, and personnel at all levels.
- Experience, vision, creativity, scope, integrity, leadership skills, prestige and intellect to enhance the existing organization and constructively contribute to the strategic direction of Cytel.
- Understanding of the biopharmaceutical R&D process is an asset.
- Experience with causal inference methods for real-world clinical data is an asset.
- Experience with clinical trial methods is an asset.
