Job Description

OpenAI Fellows Program

The OpenAI Fellows program is intended for researchers and scientists who want to be AI researchers and have previously proven excellence in another field or have done independent work in machine learning. As a Fellow, you'll work within an OpenAI team with a designated mentor to develop your understanding and be responsible for a research project. This program runs for 6 months, including a 2-month period of background learning and exploration followed by 4 months of working on a research project.

Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis.

We'd like to find candidates with:

• Research-based objective achievements in another field, such as building a large software system, awards in math/science/programming contests or authoring highly-cited publications.
• Strong technical research experience in another field.
• Re-implementation experience of deep learning papers or independent projects in machine learning.

Candidates should already have:

• Strong programming skills, including Python3 or other popular machine-learning languages.
• A strong understanding of Linear Algebra, Calculus, and Statistics.
• An intrinsic motivation to discover AI breakthroughs and their potential benefits.
• Shown an initiative to self-study the fundamentals of ML before starting the Fellowship.

The Fellowship program gives preference to:

• People who can join OpenAI full-time immediately after finishing their Fellowship.
