About the role

We are looking for a talented AI Science Intern to join us in our commitment to improve the quality of care for patients in every community across the nation. In this role, you will join our Artificial Intelligence--Natural Language Processing group and work on mission-critical AI model development.

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with researching, training, and deploying AI solutions for natural language understanding of radiology and other medical texts. You will be involved in the full cycle of AI model development including research, training, performance analysis, and implementation.

You will:

• Investigate novel techniques for machine learning-based analytics and automated question answering using natural language processing across a variety of large, diverse medical datasets.
• Collaborate closely with AI Scientists and AI Engineers to understand the needs of the project and contribute your engineering/science knowledge to its core design. 
• Rigorously document experimental results, code, and resulting models.
• Help to shape Covera Health’s language understanding and broader data analytics strategy by identifying new research directions.

Requirements

You are passionate about using your skills to help improve the quality of care for patients across the country. You strive to deliver high quality work, and have great attention to detail. You are an excellent communicator and work well both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

In addition, you have the following:

• BS in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, machine learning, natural language understanding, or related technical field
• Are working on a Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, machine learning, natural language understanding, or related technical field
• Experience with Python
• Experience with a deep learning environment such as Tensorflow or Pytorch
• Experience developing, training, and testing deep learning models
• Experience in natural language processing

You may also have the following:

• Familiar or experience working with the latest self-supervised learning techniques
• Familiar or experience working with multi-task learning or metalearning
• Experience working with Transformers
• Experience with AWS and distributed computing

Compensation and Length of Employment

This is a full-time position for 4 Months with a potential for an additional 4 Months based on business needs and performance. Compensation is approximately $30/hour based on experience.
