Job Description

Based in Toronto (Markham), Huawei Canada R&D Center is responsible for developing key technologies such as artificial intelligence and computer vision. We innovate at the leading-edge of machine learning, computer vision, and to bring the next generation Huawei's products. We warmly welcome outstanding and burgeoning engineers to join us as full-time employees, contractors or R&D interns!

Your research will be applied widely in terminal field of consumer's business, such as mobile devices. The featured result of your research will be presented to the world via latest Huawei Product Launch Event.

• Use your deep understanding of computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to tackle meaningful technical problems, collaborate with the most innovative product development team in the world and transfer your ideas into solutions in the next generation of Huawei products.
• Conceive, plan, develop and implement scientific research projects to advance scientific knowledge in business-relevant areas
• Conduct academic & applied research with a collaborative team of researchers by developing core algorithms and platforms of computer vision to enhance the core competitiveness and user experience of Huawei's related products.
• Generate high-quality patents and/or academic publications in the areas of applied ML, computer vision and graphics?(e.g. CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, SIGGRAPH?etc.)
• Make a dent in the technology world.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Masters in Computer Vision, Computer Science or a related field
• Expertise in at least one area of visual image enhancement, semantic understanding and reasoning of images(e.g., intelligent scene recognition, saliency detection, image semantic, color balance, image super-resolution and denoising, OCR, image search and image captioning etc.)
• Proven track of record in top academic conferences/publications (i.e., CVPR, ICCV, NeurlIPS, ECCV, AAAI?etc. )
• A passion for creating innovative techniques, and making them robust and scalable
• Ability to distill vague product experiences into concrete problem definitions
• Solid programming skills with C++ and/or Java and/or Python
• Experience with Android or other mobile systems as a plus
