Position Summary

Buckman is seeking a digital innovation intern to work with engineers in the area of Industrial IoT innovation – a rapid prototyping environment with a multi-disciplinary team. Projects can include the full product development lifecycle from project ideation, requirements gathering, proof of concepts, development, testing, and commercialization. Projects can involve development of sensors, mobile apps, PC and cloud software development, process models and digital twins, wireless networks, etc.

The ideal candidate is creative, a quick learner, and thrives in a multi-disciplinary, dynamic environment. Additionally, ideal candidates are self-starting, hands-on innovators who thrive in bringing ideas to life and have the emotional intelligence to collaborate with others to augment skills he/she does not have.

The selected candidates will get a rich exposure to all aspects of product development from ideation, pitch, development and deployment, not only within Buckman’s laboratory, but also in customer sites.

The role does not require someone to have a deep digital background, but requires an engineering or scientific background, digital dexterity, ability to work with varied stakeholders ranging from sales associates to digital professionals, loads of common sense and the right attitude to learn.

Basic Qualifications

• A junior or senior in a BS program in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related scientific/technical field
• Digital dexterity: must be a “digital native” who is comfortable using digital tools and solutions, has a basic level of understanding required to interface with the digital professionals, and has the aptitude and willingness to learn and grow in this area
• Strong communications skills in English across all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

• A second year student at a M.S. (or equivalent experience)
• In depth knowledge or prior experience with development and deployment of digital solutions involving Internet of Things, Data analytics, etc.
