Job Description

The Precision Animal Health (PAH) business at Zoetis is a leading technology solutions provider for the animal health industry. We leverage a variety of technologies including software solutions, genetic testing, advanced analytics, blockchain, and multi-omic approaches to deliver insights that inform key decisions in animal care and management. This rapidly growing sector is shaping the future of animal health, precision medicine, and sustainable production practices.

In an effort to help fuel this growth and to increase exposure to opportunities in our industry, the PAH business unit has internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students across a range of disciplines. The Data Science and Software Development Intern will support development of software solutions for use by beef cattle producers to digitize data capture and streamline data recording in their operations. Activities may include development of assigned features in web, Android, and iOS applications, programming elements of underlying data architecture, programming defined analysis algorithms, and developing workflows for IoT data integration. The intern will also participate in key activities including team meetings, project updates, and planning sessions to gain experience in the day-to-day of a developer / programmer in a rapidly growing global business.

Responsibilities

The major duties will include but are not limited to:

• Participate in regular team meetings and workshops
• Contribute to collaborative code review and long-term software management best practices
• Apply their experience in programming to develop code that fulfills assigned functional elements
• Comply with Zoetis standards for development of customer facing solutions, security, and code
• Present completed work to the PAH Leadership Team

Qualifications:

Education

• Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a major in computer science, information technologies, mathematics, electrical engineering, physics or similar field

Skills

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, prioritizing time to perform the relevant work
• Ability to effectively collaborate with geographically dispersed teams via email, teleconference, MS Teams, Zoom, etc.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate using Goolge Gsuite collaboration tools
• Experience programming in vue.js, Swift, SwiftUI, ObjectiveC, Kotlin, Golang, Java, C++ or other significant programming languages used within the platform.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members from a diverse array of backgrounds and cultures in markets throughout the world
