Job Description

As a principal in our Business Insights pod, you will lead the design, build and ongoing operation of insightful, data-driven reports and dashboards that make life easier and more quantitative for a wide range of internal users across the Xero business.

The Data team is responsible for driving the adoption of data driven decision making across Xero - for both our internal users and our global audience of small business owners, bookkeepers and accountants. We create, manage and deliver a wide range of data services including core reporting, key data dimensions, extensible and scalable analytical data processing and storage facilities, machine learning toolsets, frameworks and AI prediction services.

We are the center of expertise for data architecture, data modeling, machine learning, ethical data usage and artificial intelligence service design. We lead the effort to raise the data and AI literacy levels across Xero.

About what you'll be doing...

• Putting accurate, clearly interpretable information in the hands of decision makers
• Driving consistency and remove guesswork from business planning and execution
• Taking the information to the user in ways that integrate with their existing day to day tasks and workflows
• Synergistically build additional business value on top of existing data assets in a maintainable fashion
• Mentoring and coaching individuals and teams and shaping the analytical data community across Xero, including leading the design of our processes and approaches to insight delivery

About you...

• Demonstrable experience in business hypothesis formation and the ability to lead a team from business problem to productionised solution
• Work effectively with external vendors to ensure investment in tooling is appropriate and promotes best of capability solutions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to translate between business and technical audiences
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to articulate and advocate the technical vision and direction for your programs of work

• Proven experience consulting and collaborating with a diverse stakeholder group to realise valued outcomes
