Job Description

The Business Intelligence Developer provides business insights by implementing decision support solutions that drive defined outcomes. As a member of the information services team, the BI Developer works with project managers, business analysts, and operational subject matter experts to measure and predict business processes. In this role, the BI Developer will design, create and maintain reliable dashboards, data models, database objects, stored procedures, and views. The successful candidate must be driven to learn and excited by applying new technologies in support of a growing, dynamic multinational business.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilites:

• Design and architect solutions using the Power BI stack, proposing the right fit of features to meet the business needs. Translate business requirements into meaningful, clean, and scalable visualizations according to enterprise standards and processes.
• Discover new data needs and lead the process to connect and transform the data from raw-ingest to reliable production ready status within the DataLake.
• Clearly translate and communicate complex business requirements in order to translate them into technical specifications. Perform complex data analysis to support requirements gathering, documentation, and quality of data.
• Engage additional technology team members to implement any necessary custom solutions and ensure the integrity, security, reliability and data quality of the products(reports, documents, dashboards, etc.)
• Coordinate user acceptance testing to ensure that the developed solution meets business user needs. Support functional and non-functional tests in all relevant project phases.
• Generate and deliver quality reports to internal and external users. Perform quality assurance checks on reports.
• Establish, police, and maintain data quality providing input to data or source system owners. Implement data sanitization and normalization procedures where necessary. Educate others on the proper use of data to enable self service.
• Documents existing and new processes, including business rules, logic, and processes, focuses on quality, results, accuracy, performance, and security
• Utilizes SQL, Python, R, or Java scripting to improve product quality and effectiveness.
• Demonstrate accountability, flexibility and adaptability to handle multiple and changing priorities and be able to successfully collaborate with different teams, and key stakeholders.
• Extract/mine large volumes of data using complex optimized SQL queries from multiple decentralized systems driven by business requirements.
• Broad technical knowledge including relevant industry trends, flexibility and adaptability in regards to learning and understanding new technologies to drive our offerings forward, identifies and creates efficiencies within and across products.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Computer Science related field
• Two (2) years or more experience required in
  • A business analyst role
  • Developing reports or dashboards in business intelligence tools
  • ETL process including development, deployment, and configurations
• Preferred (not required) experience:
  • Performing logical DBA duties
  • Microsoft Azure Logic-Apps & Data Factory
  • Dimension Design and Cube design
  • SQL, Python, R, or Java scripting, experience with extracting and modeling data from an API/JSON
• Data modeling and normalization on large data sets
• Knowledge of 3PL and 4PL logistics a plus

• Proven ability to meet deadlines, ability to multi-task effectively and manage priorities.
• Experience and working knowledge of:

• Database design
• Complex SQL queries
• Stored Procedures in MSSQL database and NoSQL
• Understanding business requirements and translating them to functional/technical requirements.
• Software development lifecycle experience in Agile methodologies

• Very good soft skills, teamwork, and adaptability to challenges, ability to act in a proactive and consultative manner
• Demonstrated flexibility, with the ability to work with different business areas and new technologies as the team evolves and matures.
• Experienced with technical troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Advanced interpersonal, business communication, and writing skills.

• Able to work within a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities.
• Must be well organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Self-starter who takes initiative and can work with minimal supervision.
