Data Engineer – Job description

Data Engineer will be responsible for expanding and optimizing healthcare payer data, data pipeline architecture and data flow to enable analysis across several dimensions.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Maintain consistent and reliable data ingestion and pipeline operations
• Monitor and validate health of ingestion and pipeline operations (24X7)
• Repair abnormal job execution and data corruption conditions
• Report daily and intraday support readiness and workflow-health
• Automate jobs (ingestion & pipelines), notifications and reports
• Support failures, data quality issues and environment health
• Maintain ingestion and pipeline runbooks, portfolio summary and DBAR
• Enable infrastructure change, enhancements and update roadmap
• Monthly reporting on team efficiency continuously looking for scope to optimize productivity
• GCP certified/GCP experience will be a plus

Candidate Profile:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science or related quantitative field

Must have technical skills include:

• 5-6 years of solid experience of High Level coding skills such as SQL/PL-SQL, and scripting languages UNIX, Shell required
• Experience with massively parallel processing systems like Spark or Hadoop
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Big data and Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Spark, Hive, ORC, HBase)
• Experience with source code control systems (GIT) and CI/CD process (Jenkins/Team City/Octopus)
• Experience in cloud computing with knowledge about configuration, environment, etc.
• Involvement in the design, prototyping, and delivery of software solutions within the big data eco-system.
• Ability to perform code reviews to ensure that code meets acceptance criteria
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools to iterate quickly on product changes, developing user stories and working through backlog
• Improving data governance and quality, increasing the reliability of data
• Nice to have technical skills include:
• Hands-on experience in back-end programming, particularly Java
• Exposure to GCP (certification, if any)
• AWS knowledge (S3/redshift/lambda/data pipeline)
• Experience in SNOW
