Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to work across teams to support the Partner Migrations and AWS Partner Funding Programs that contribute to the growth of AWS and the AWS Partner Network.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer on this team, you will apply programming, SQL, and visualization skills to develop scalable BI solutions. Your deliverables will help accelerate the business with data-driven analyses, metrics, and insight, and help with executive reporting and decision making.

In the Business Intelligence Engineer, you will develop a deep understanding of Partner Migration and AWS Partner Network Funding programs that support partners as well as the AWS field priorities. You will work with program owners and operation leads to define, build, and execute the key analysis and insights supporting strategic initiatives and decisions. An ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple priorities. We’re also looking for data that can be scaled to enable self-service reporting capability across partner programs, analyze and optimize partner investments, and drive adoption of scalable and automated mechanisms.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and build business critical metrics and reports across all business levers, key performance indicators, and financials.
  • Work with PM and Ops teams to gather requirements for standardized reporting metrics. Translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders both in and out of the team, create analytical insights to identify key priorities.
  • Provide data engineering with functional and technical requirements to improve efficiency of data pipelines.
  • Own alignment and standardization of analytical initiatives across the global migration and funding teams.
  • Own and develop new data pipelines (data sources, queries, visualization outputs) for ad-hoc and recurring reports.
  • Continuously improve solutions for new and ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to support business needs.
  • Proactively make and justify recommendations based on advanced statistical techniques, deep familiarity with the customer or developer experiences, as well as by cross-referencing multiple data sources and comparing against the wider industry.
  • Automate reporting for regular metrics, identify areas of opportunity to automate, scale ad-hoc analyses, build and inform BI tool improvements.
  • Continuously raise the bar in identifying, benchmarking, and implementing Analytics best practice across the organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related, highly analytical field
  • 3+ year of experience in business intelligence and statistical analysis role
  • 3+ years experience with SQL/Python/VBA, Tableau/PowerBI or other BI tools, and modern data warehousing techniques (dimensional data modelling, experience with ETL, etc.)
  • 3+ years experience in building relational databases, reporting/BI platforms or leveraging statistics for data analytics
  • 3+ years creation and ownership of metrics, reporting, dashboards, and financial models for business reviews cycles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • 5+ years of work experience of analyzing and interpreting data as a business intelligence engineer, data engineer, or similar capacity
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills and an ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses
  • Experience with ETL development and data warehousing
  • Experience with creating and building predictive/optimization tools that benefit the business and improve customer experience
  • Experience working with large data sets and big data technologies
  • Experience with statistical techniques, such as regression analysis, predictive modeling, segmentation, forecasting, hypothesis testing, multivariate testing
  • Programming experience in any scripting language
  • Prior Analyst experience in Sales, Marketing, or Finance organizations highly preferred
