Job Description

A data scientist who will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and on-going support of a data driven software platform. Must be comfortable with working on open-ended analytics problems. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects simultaneously, including both enhancements as well as new project development. The candidate must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency and a commitment to quality and professionalism. The candidate must be comfortable working independently and must possess very strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct rapid ad hoc and exploratory data analyses
• Develop advanced analytics solutions for non-standard data science problems
• Collaborate with engineering team to integrate analytics solutions into the production software platform
• Analyze business requirements and partner with product team to provide strategic solutions
• Write production-ready code
• Partner in designing and developing automated data validation strategies
• Develop documentation, data-driven presentations

Qualifications

• Background in mathematics, statistics, computer science preferred
• Strong conceptual understanding of statistics, machine learning, and relational databases
• Experience with natural language processing a plus
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience with R or Python
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience with SQL (MS SQL Server, Postgres/Redshift)
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience with data visualization (ggplot2, matplotlib, D3)
• Experience working with big data technologies such as Apache Spark a plus
• Strong emphasis on program correctness
• Proven ability to communicate analytical results to non-technical audiences
• Track record of dealing with non-standard data science problems
• Experience collaborating with backend engineers (DBAs, data engineers, etc.)
• Possession of strong communication and presentation skills as well as an analytical mindset
• Good problem solving and testing skills
• Familiarity with code versioning tools such as Git
• Strong organizational skills & attention to detail
• Possess a desire to work for a fast-paced, results-based company
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
