Software Engineer Big Data Platform Engineer

Interested in being part of one of the biggest Big Data platforms at massive scale running on public and private cloud substrates? Salesforce is building out our Big Data Platform Services team to reinvigorate the way we architect, deliver, and operate the platforms and services that run in our own data centers and also in public clouds - at consumer web scale. We are looking to add engineers and leads, with experience building and owning distributed services, who can step up and own big chunks of this vision.

Responsibilities:

• Working with Spark, YARN, Hive, MapReduce, Presto, Airflow, Object Stores or equivalent large-scale distributed big data systems on public cloud substrates such as AWS
• Working with DevOps, CI/CD in the cloud using technologies such as Linux automation, Terraform, Spinnaker
• Designing, developing, debugging, and operating available, scalable, performant, resilient distributed systems that run across thousands of compute nodes
• Building a secured data intelligent platform in the cloud by addressing areas such as VPC network, security, IAM, authentication, authorization, data governance
• Eat, sleep, and breathe services. You have experience balancing DevOps, live-site management and feature delivery. Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to address complex problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available

Required Skills

• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree with 8+ years of experience or Master Degree with 6+ years of experience.
• 3+ years of experience big data technologies from public clouds or open source, such as Spark, YARN, Hive, MapReduce, Presto, Airflow, Object Stores
• 3+ years of cloud infrastructure DevOps and CI/CD experience using technologies such as Linux automation, Terraform, Spinnaker
• 2+ years of experience with security and network in a cloud environment including VPC network, IAM, authentication, authorization, data governance
• 2+ years of experience owning and operating a mission-critical service on a distributed system.
• Experience with agile development methodology, DevOps, monitoring-driven on-call and test-driven development

Open to Fully Remote, Flex (1-3 days/week in the office), or Office-Based (4-5 days/week in office)

**For Colorado-based roles: Minimum annual salary of $98,900. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
