Job Description

The Python Developer will help create and update a backend api that will offer various functionality to end-users. Building on top of a CockroachDB Database and Python Flask the successful candidate will be responsible for building new endpoints based on the requests coming from different teams and projects.

They will also work on maintaining and building different backend projects developed in Python and PHP.

Requirements

The Role:

• Design and build new features for our RESTFul API using Flask and Python 3
• Maintain our Legacy projects mainly written in Python and PHP
• Offer support, especially when teammates are faced with new challenges
• Use Docker containers to isolate and scale processes on demand
• Problem solve, propose solutions and estimate time-frames for projects
• Provide guidance and advice on best practises and future technologies
• Analyse software requirements and come up with software solutions
• Participate in code reviews

Skills & Experience required for this role:

• 3+ years in a Backend Development role
• Python 3+ years experience
• Strong experience with developing object-oriented Python applications
• Strong experience with Python frameworks such as Flask
• Strong experience building and using RESTFul API’s
• Fundamental knowledge of SQL, as well as experience in data modelling of relational databases
• A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practises
• Unit tests writing experience Testing and test automation on Python
• Practical knowledge of Linux Unix based OS
• Practical knowledge of test methodologies, relevant standards, processes, and tools
• Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal English
• Good knowledge of GIT
• Write clean, well-designed code.

Desired:

• Experience with PHP and PHP frameworks (CakePHP)
• Experience with build and deployment technologies (Jenkins)
• Understanding of Docker
• Experience with Javascript, CSS, HTML5
