Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence (BI), or data engineering.
  • 5 years of experience with people management.
  • 3 years of experience with technical product management (e.g., creating product roadmap(s) from conception to launch and working with cross-functional teams).
  • 1 year of experience in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in Legal Operations.
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Knowledge of technical background in full-stack related roles.

About the job

In this role, you will help the analytical roadmap for Google’s Global Legal Organization. You will work closely with members of the Legal Department to understand business intelligence and data science needs across the organization, implement prioritization frameworks to determine which projects are the most important, and then oversee the project management and technical execution.

You will be working with executives and other internal stakeholders to articulate and support the solutions you have proposed, and often collaborate cross-functionally with partners in Corporate Engineering and the Global Affairs organization to ensure alignment and coordination.

Our team is focused on supporting the patents organization, where they build Machine Learning (ML) applications and general engineering support.

You will serve as the manager overseeing the business intelligence and data science roadmap and operating processes for the Legal organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with legal stakeholders to not just understand and communicate tasks, but contribute to solutions, even if the solution requires processes or technology. 
  • Write business requirement documents, often including technical elements, to communicate Legal needs to Product and Engineering teams. 
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to establish technical execution plans, and own communication of progress and plans back to legal stakeholders.
  • Help facilitate decision making, including evaluating vendor applications, evaluating functional and technical designs (e.g., multi party integrations across systems, vendors, etc.), build-vs-buy evaluation, and more.
  • Understand processes and programs for groups within the legal department, including relevant legal, policy and regulatory concerns that are being addressed.
