Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to implement data management practices across the enterprise to enable better efficiencies and drive results. This role focuses either in data quality, metadata or governance. It executes the roadmap set by the leadership team for projects department and company wide initiatives. This role partners with the senior/lead data management analysts and cross-functional Business /IT teams to ensure the IT solutions support aspects of data management. In this role, you bring your experience on data management. This role receives oversight from the manager and senior level team members.

  • This individual serves as an SME in a specific function of Data Management.
  • With a focus specifically on Data Governance, this role helps develop, implement and drive compliance across the enterprise to data governance policies.
  • With a focus specifically on Data Quality, this role helps establish data quality rules, complete data quality analyses based on the rules, and drive remediation activities where necessary.
  • With a focus specifically on Data Lineage, this role helps develop and maintain data lineage discovery and capture artifacts for various data initiatives and products across the enterprise.
  • With a focus specifically on Data Standards, this role helps define and document key data standards and drive application across the enterprise.
  • With a focus specifically on Data Activation, this role helps create and maintain processes to consistently and sustainably acquire data sets into the Lowe’s data ecosystem.
  • With a focus specifically on Data Stewardship, this role helps on-board data stewards and continuously develop the data stewardship process.
  • With a focus specifically on Data Dictionary, this role helps continuously develop the data dictionary capability, driving adoption and integration across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Standards, Policies and Procedures
  • Supports data standards, policy and procedures by interpreting data standards; recommends changes to existing data standards
  • Ensures compliance to data standards, policy and procedures and thinks within defined policies, principles and specific objectives
  • Shares data with peers, managers, and customers as appropriate

Management & Delivery

  • Supports batch/real time data updates and production feeds to provide current, timely and usable data that meets business requirements
  • Supports projects, primarily at the department level; participates in meetings with stakeholders
  • Streamlines workflows and processes to increase efficiency
  • Provides recommendations to simplify data delivery process

 Measurement & Reporting

  • Evaluates adherence of data to data management standards
  • Obtains, normalizes and compares datasets to proactively identify normalization and consistency issues
  • Analyzes error reports to identify issues and trends throughout the data lifecycle
  • Collection & Input
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to help determine data requirements
  • Provides input into project plans and executes work plans in support of larger projects
  • Assists in the development of data lifecycle processes

Training & Communication

  • Supports the learning and discovery of data management standards, processes and technology by sharing best practices with others for the efficient use of data management processes and technologies
  • Delivers training on the use of data management applications

Roadmap

  • Executes the roadmap for Data Management, working through ambiguity and conflicting priorities where necessary
  • Understands the latest industry trends, best practices and technologies

 Data Governance Responsibilities

  • Helps drive compliance to data governance policies that ensure data is managed as a critical asset
