An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Analyst in the Business Intelligence team, working within the broader Strategy & Services department. Under the general direction of the Senior Manager Business Intelligence, with mentoring from other experienced analysts, you will be a key member of the team and bring your developing analytical skills to a variety of global projects in World Courier’s fast growing and complex business

The Junior Business Intelligence Analyst is expected to develop expertise across current BI analytic tools and platforms, providing on-demand reporting and training to other users, as well as executing ad hoc analysis when required. As a member of the Business Intelligence team, you will consult with stakeholders and contribute to help define reporting, develop analytic solutions and data structures, and to facilitate intelligence strategies. They will cooperate with teams across the department and wider business and there will be considerable on the job training and opportunities to expand your role, ranging from more advanced analytical work to data visualisation.

This position will utilise strong analytic skills and would suit a candidate who has had some experience in a similar role or a recent graduate who has successfully completed an internship in a business setting. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently for extended periods be able to clearly communicate results of analyses. Limited experience at managing small projects expected.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as a key resource for interpreting data and information; communicates results to team members.
  • Operates as a key contact between the department and data/ IT/ governance teams to facilitate the delivery of business intelligence solutions.
  • Works closely with operations, technical teams, and wider business colleagues to contribute to cross-functional project activities and ensures deliverables are accurate and meet customer requirements
  • Facilitates effective working relationship between BI and Analytical Support team.
  • Utilizes business intelligence tools across all departments and functional areas providing detailed analysis, insight, and reporting
  • Assesses analytics and reporting needs; in time and with support providing recommendations for enhanced solutions and specifications for business intelligence tools.
  • Supports the delivery of BI solutions to internal and external customers.
  • Contributes to prioritising different needs across business areas to support deployment strategies and business goals.
  • Supports development of protocols to extract data in a standardized process from a variety of data sources.
  • Helps to define, track, and remediate data quality and data management standards
  • Supports development of prototypes and models for database, data integrations and data transformation needs.
  • Maintains and develops strong working relationships with stakeholders as a process advocate.
  • Supports creation of speech and presentation materials for members of the management team.
  • Keeps abreast of healthcare trends and competitor activity.

  • Ability to effectively participate in cross-functional problem solving teams
  • Planning, analytical, and conceptual skills to evaluate business problems and identify and apply appropriate solutions with support. Some exposure to best practice
  • Business acumen
  • Some experience of managing small projects
  • Experience of relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server or Access) and data management desirable
  • Experience with object-oriented programming (e.g. VBA, Python) desirable
  • Experience with Alteryx Designer desirable
  • Experience with statistical or maths packages (e.g. R, Stata, SPSS) desirable
  • Experience with other coding language or BI tools desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel

  • Ideally some training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, or computer science generally obtained through completion of a three/four year Bachelor’s Degree program
