The Associate Director, Data Science Advanced Analytics will leverage big data to conduct predictive analytics that will ultimately advise marketing and sales strategies (e.g., segmentation, spend optimization). Specifically, the Associate Director will be responsible for building new business models, interpreting the results, and communicating key findings to cross-functional stakeholders. This role will report to the Director of Data Science within the Commercial Acceleration (“CA”) Organization.

This opportunity is located at the Novartis East Hanover (NJ) site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Relocation assistance may be available

What will you be responsible for.

  • Maintaining accountability for high quality and timely delivery of analytics service requests, including requests for solutions requiring sophisticated statistical and machine learning approaches
  • Lead experiment measurement through test and control to assess the effectiveness of various tactics; help modify tactics to increase effectiveness based on insights identified
  • Building models and methodologies to inform and evaluate brands’ marketing and sales tactics (e.g., marketing mix, resource allocation, segmentation) using the latest data science techniques (Bayesian Statistics, Econometrics, Neural Networks/Logistic, ANCOVA, etc.)
  • Manipulating highly complex structured and unstructured data from a variety of sources and conducting predictive analytics to identify actionable insights and drive targeting and solve business problems
  • Enhancing the HCP targeting process and assessing field force effectiveness
  • Determining KPIs to track the effectiveness of recommendations that have been implemented; build wireframes to show how the data will be visualized
  • Measuring impact (e.g., ROI, engagement) of promotion campaigns and helping modify future campaigns based on findings
  • Identifying areas in which the Data Science team can “plug in” and drive analytical innovation and value for Brands

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to the role?

  • 7+ years of experience working on data science projects, plus 2 years of Healthcare experience a plus
  • Experience in commercial operations within life sciences a plus; understanding of sales force sizing and segmentation and targeting
  • Experience working with pharmaceutical datasets (Rx, APLD, etc)
  • Experience using data to support business decisions, return on investment/ financial modeling, and statistical analysis
  • Ability to present analytical results to management
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets
  • Experience in building ANCOVA models, Shapley Value and attribution Machine Learning techniques, tests, A|B n and multivariate designs to measure marketing response
  • Expertise in one or more statistical modeling tools such as Python, R, SAS, or Alteryx required
  • Proven self-starter with high standards of excellence and an innovative mind
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines
  • Excels at interacting with a diverse group of people, all levels of management, including senior leadership
  • Change management and project management experience
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills
