The Technology Development Group is looking for a machine learning research scientist who is passionate about building advanced algorithms for analyzing complex neural and physiological signals. Candidates will have a strong research background in machine learning, and have made contributions to the field by building new computational models and applying them on real-world datasets. We are looking for a teammate with excellent interpersonal skills, and a dedication to conducting impactful research in a fast-paced environment.

Key Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with applying both simpler models (linear regression, SVM, random forests etc.) and deep learning models (recurrent neural nets, convolutional nets) on large, noisy neural and physiological datasets.
  • Strong theoretical and applied background in some or all of the following: unsupervised/supervised methods, online machine learning, computer vision, sensor fusion, dynamical systems, modeling of perceptual reasoning and decision making.
  • Experience in signal processing, linear algebra and time-frequency analysis.
  • Fluency in a high-level programming language (Matlab and/or Python) and experience with ML tools (scikit-learn, pandas and deep learning toolboxes such as TensorFlow and PyTorch)
  • Excellent programming, problem solving and debugging skills.
  • (Preferred) Experience with translating exploratory data analyses into production models.

Description

  • This is a multi-faceted scientific role that will require you to be versatile across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment. You will work closely with other scientists and engineers to rapidly carry out analyses that help drive research and development. You will have the following responsibilities:
  • Carry out extensive analytics that aim to pull out meaningful and actionable insights from complex multimodal datasets
  • Work cross-functionally with other team members to translate these insights into transformative prototypes and demonstrations
  • Help architect and port real-time algorithms to a variety of platforms

Education & Experience

  • PhD (or MS and 3 years of research experience) in Computer Science, Computational Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field. 2+ years postdoctoral experience and/or industry research experience is a plus.
