Job Description

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long-term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

Functional skills and experience:

• Inspire, lead and grow a globally distributed, multi-functional team, including data engineers, technical data analysts, business analysts, data governance & quality teams, while aligning tightly with data science, product managers, and software engineers
• Apply expertise directly and through coaching the team to use the latest data frameworks to extract insights or influence overall strategy. Set and communicate a clear technical direction that supports our business goals, driving standards for engineering excellence that lead to scale and customer satisfaction
• Participate in design, architectural and operational decisions, driving engineering projects from definition to delivery and maintenance, working closely with Product Management and Design teams to determine what to build and why, and maintaining high standards and best practices for engineering excellence
• Ability to lead a team through high growth, change and adapting to ever-changing legal and privacy landscape

Technical skills and experience:

• 10 -15 yrs. experience in Data warehousing and Analytics as a Technical Manager, and architect
• 8-10 yrs. of leading teams in BI Tools development
• 3-5 yrs. of hands-on experience in data modeling, building content in BI Tools, ETL experience
• Strong data modeling skill set and history of designing and building complex data models
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL experience
• Ability to create, troubleshoot, and optimize complex queries
• Oracle Database experience
• Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI), Oracle Analytics Cloud (or Server) experience preferred
