Job Description

The Instagram Shopping Reels & Video team is at the intersection of two of Instagram’s biggest bets: Video/Entertainment and Commerce. On the Shopping team, we are focused on building a multi-billion-dollar commerce business natively on Instagram. At the same time, Instagram’s ecosystem is quickly evolving into one where short-form and long-form video takes center stage across the experience. This team will be shaping the future of Shopping on Instagram by optimizing and evolving the shopping experience across all forms of video. The team is responsible for end-to-end ownership of video shopping, including building the consumer Shopping experience in Reels & Video across the app and owning the creation of Shopping in Reels & Video by brands and creators. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about untangling complicated or ambiguous ecosystem-level problems, is ever-curious, and has a strong product sense. You will work with cross-functional partners and other data scientists on both long and short-term analyses, communicating findings and recommendations to company leadership. The role will require someone who is a strong communicator and is energized by cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Help build the long term vision and strategy for Shopping in Reels & Video on Instagram
  • Lead analytics projects end-to-end across the company’s Commerce and Video teams in partnership with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions
  • Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to cross-functional partners and executives
  • Work with large and complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical and statistical approaches
  • Identify and measure success of product efforts through goal setting, forecasting, and monitoring of key product metrics to understand trends
  • Define, understand, and test opportunities and levers to improve the product, and drive roadmaps through your insights and recommendations
  • Partner with engineering to structure and evaluate complex experiments
  • Contribute towards advancing the Data Science discipline at Meta, including but not limited to driving data best practices (e.g. analysis, goaling, experimentation), improving analytical processes, scaling knowledge and tools, and mentoring other data scientists

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in an analytical or scientific field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research)
  • 5+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, MATLAB)
  • 5+ years of experience doing complex quantitative analysis in product analytics
  • 5+ years of experience communicating the results of analyses to leadership teams to influence the strategy
  • Experience leading complex analytics projects across multiple functions and stakeholders
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in e-Commerce, the Video landscape, or other two-sided marketplaces
  • Experience communicating complex research in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
