The Opportunity

Central Engineering ASIC Design Services in Marvell designs and develops chips for external customers in market segments ranging from artificial intelligence and machine learning to wired and wireless infrastructure. We are looking for a professional in the field of application engineering who will support the design, analysis, and implementation of system-on-chip (SOC) designs to ensure successful delivery to the client.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own the SOC design requirements and specification.
  • Develop and improve the computer-aided design (CAD) tools/flow defined for ASICs pertaining to the role.
  • Design and develop the SOC using Linux. TCL, Python/Perl (or other equivalent scripting languages).
  • Assist design and business teams in IP selection according to customer application requirements and driving IP development for support.
  • Work with internal and 3rd party stakeholders in support of external customers on matters related to library, IPs, documentation, application-related analysis, e.g., power, signal integrity and SER, and hardware bring-up.
  • Support design teams on IP integration and usage model, design reviews, sign-off, and bring-up.
  • Analyze and debug various aspects of SOC designs, e.g., clock trees, IO paths.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields, or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to theories, principles and concepts.
  • Knowledge of and over 5 years of industrial experience in VLSI backend design flow and tools
  • Knowledge of and over 5 years of industrial experience in library cells and IPs and related design models
  • Knowledge of and over 5 years of industrial experience in semiconductor fabrication process, test, bring-up, and qualification
  • Knowledge of and over 5 years of industrial experience in modeling and debugging designs related to static timing analysis (STA) and power signal integrity (PSI).
  • Knowledge of and over 5 years of industrial experience in design and application aspects as related to power, thermal, failure rate, quality, and reliability.
  • Knowledge of and over 5 years of industrial experience high-speed interfaces and applications, e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, or HBM.
  • Proficient in circuit-level analysis using industry-standard circuit simulation tool, e.g., SPICE.
  • Proficient in scripting languages, e.g., TCL, Python and Perl
  • Excellent English communication skill in verbal and written.
  • Able to work effectively with global team and be self-motivated to solve problems and manage deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of Linux/Unix/BSD Internals, with experience working on multi-threaded systems.
  • Excellent programming skills for design automation with good problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of design-for-test concept
  • Over 3 years of experience in working with external customers and 3rd-party IP providers.
