Role Description:

We seek a Machine Learning Engineer to help our team deliver next generation insights from our unique data sources. You will explore data, concept, and develop new machine learned models. And you will build and improve preprocessing pipelines, API endpoints, database controllers, and machine learning development tooling. You will work with cross functional teams to validate the performance and function of new features. You will write functional, well-tested code and support our automated build systems.

Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years experience designing and implementing machine learning pipelines in production environments.
• Creative thinking and a keen interest in brainstorming ideas for the next generation of data products. Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
• Proven ability to independently concept new data products, create proofs of concept, curate data, train models with limited labeled data, and build models that generalize well to large production datasets.
• Working knowledge of current techniques and approaches in machine learning and natural language processing: text categorization, text summarization, information retrieval, question answering, sentiment analysis, semantic parsing, etc.
• Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, Scala, or Python.
• Experience with Apache Spark platform (including Datasets, SparkML) and/or experience with one or more deep learning libraries and platforms (e.g., TensorFlow, Caffe or PyTorch).
• Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to address complex problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available

Preferred Qualifications

• MA/MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics
• Knowledge of Tensorflow, PyTorch or equivalent framework for deep learning
• Knowledge of Scala, Java, and general JVM ecosystem
• Knowledge of JVM build tooling and dependency management, ideally SBT
• Experience with CI/CD build systems (e.g., TeamCity, Jenkins, CircleCI)
• Knowledge of functional programming techniques
• Experience with data engineering in a distributed computation framework, ideally Apache Spark
• Experience with big data distributed systems and databases (e.g., Kafka, Cassandra, ElasticSearch)
• Experience with Docker or other virtualization platform
• Experience working cross-functionally with data scientists, site reliability engineering and devops
