ROLE SUMMARY

The Statistical Data Scientist will combine comprehensive knowledge, hands-on experience in the statistical/data sciences with awareness of technology trends—including graphical databases, and demonstrated prior successful delivery of novel capabilities. It is this synergistic integration of expertise that bridges well-known gaps in cross-functional teams.

As a creative problem-solver & data science subject matter expert (SME) who will drive business transformation of Biometrics’ Statistical Programming & Analysis (SPA) organization, the Manager, Statistical Data Scientist will inform & bolster the effectiveness of change by ensuring the application of innovative technologies needed to enable transformations via data science techniques.

This role will require minimal direction while collaborating to vision and solution “what, where, & how” to innovate, networking within SPA as well as cross-functionally to build alignment to that strategy, communicate & educate cross-functionally to bring alignment on innovative solutions, then ultimately champion delivery the envisioned business value.

The transformations to be delivered will span SPA’s global workforce, will dramatically improve the operations that support individual study work, cross-study integrations, as well as regulatory submissions, and will enable scaling of workloads. Role Responsibilities

  • Drive digital transformation of the A&R space by leveraging comprehensive knowledge of statistical data science, and expertise in the analysis & reporting (A&R) domain, to partner in delivery of enabling solutions.
  • Drive digital transformation of the A&R space by leveraging comprehensive knowledge of semantic/graphical modeling techniques to collaborate to deliver graphical databases of Statistical Analysis Results.
  • Apply A&R expertise to inform the semantic modeling of A&R Plans (detailed requirements for engineering of clinical data & statistical analyses), ensuring valid & usable digital study-specific information.
  • Apply A&R domain expertise to define use-cases, requirements, & justifications for RPA automations, AI solutions, & ML solutions.
  • Drive digital transformation of the A&R space by leveraging comprehensive knowledge of data science to identify or simulate training data to use in the delivery of AI/ML solutions.
  • Create presentations, documents, narratives that define the problem-statement, envisioned solution, the business outcomes from that solution, the key end-user attributes to be used to attract users
  • Use A&R acumen in cross-functional conversations to drive clarity & alignment to SPA’s complex business needs to champion delivery of fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Collaborate to identify & define SPA-based and cross-functional initiatives to deliver solutions that align with & implementing SPA’s digital transformation strategy.
  • Leverage data science expertise to influence alignment of business needs/wants, priorities, risks, success measures, definition of done, etc.
  • Assist SPA in delivering on its mission by creating an attractive, productive, efficient digital workplace by collaborating on SIGMA capabilities that apply semantic technologies, AI, ML, informatics to speed drugs to market.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Informatics, Computer science, Statistics, Data Science, or related business degree with equivalent experience preferred.
  • Bachelors + 5 years of total experience with Clinical data, Statistical Analysis & Reporting, and Analytics. Masters + 3 years. PhD + 0 years.
  • Highly Experienced with graphical databases & linked information.
  • Prior experience supporting Clinical Research.
  • Demonstrated experience with Python, R, or SAS.
  • Works independently, requires minimal instruction.
  • Ability to organize tasks, time, and priorities.
  • Ability to multi-task & juggle competing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate with internal & external stakeholders, locally and globally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in strategic business & technical innovations.
  • Visionary minded change advocate & evangelist.
  • Ability to lead & influence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Min. 2 years of experience supporting pharmaceutical R&D.
  • Machine Learning model implementation is bonus.
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and react to problems quickly.
  • Conceptual understanding of business applications of AI / ML.
  • Team player, with good listening abilities, self-motivated and demonstrate results.
  • Prior working experience with teams spread across different time zones & geographies.

 
 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Primarily a remote-based position involving sitting, desk work, tele-conference, or video conference, making presentations, etc.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Primarily supporting first-shift, US eastern time-zone.

Very infrequent flexing time-zone flexing to support collaborations with OUS colleagues.

Occasional domestic and International travel.
