Job Description

The Tableau Data Science Intern is responsible for expanding, maintaining and optimizing our production-based models and data pipeline. You will also access, cleanse, compile, and transform disparate data sets to conduct analyses using scientifically valid techniques. You will be generating meaningful insights as well as assisting with feasibility studies to identify data availability, quality and modeling requirements, and dependencies. Who you are…

Technical.

You have a technical background that includes modern data oriented programming languages such as R or Python, frameworks and patterns, test automation, performance optimization and debugging. Experience with Tableau and salesforce.com preferred. You have experience in data, analytics, and strong SQL proficiency. Snowflake/SQL experience preferred. BS in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, similar data driven field preferred.

Communicator.

You have the ability to articulate ideas and proposals clearly to stakeholders and translate complex data and research into simple business recommendations. You are a strong team player with a willingness to jump in and help when needed, learn and teach new skills, and have the experience and professionalism required to meet objectives.

Self-motivated.

You have experience managing complex projects from start to finish and working effectively across internal functional teams and external vendor relationships is a plus. You have strong project management skills as well as organizational and follow through skills to manage your time to complete deliverables.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Create and maintain optimal predictive and prescriptive data models for the Sales Operations team
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements · Identify, design and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc. · Support and collaborate on the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS “big data” technologies.
  • Work with internal customers to understand their needs and author and define implementation plans and functional specifications that solve those needs.
  • Regularly assess and improve own performance in such areas as job knowledge, technical skills, productivity, accountability, quality, initiative, innovation, drive, working relationships, communications, leadership and alignment with the Tableau core values.

Who you are…

  • Currently working towards a Masters (MS) degree in a quantitative discipline with high impact research Statistics, Machine Learning or Predictive Analytics preferred
  • Experience with data manipulation, building data sets.
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling, experience developing predictive data models; experience with machine learning preferred.
  • Ability to uncover actionable insights/conclusions from data; summarize and make logical recommendations that drive informed action
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with a programming language (SQL, Python, R, Pandas, Stata), data modeling, and common database query syntax
  • Experience with one or more RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.) preferred
  • Proficient in Tableau preferred
  • Team player who can effectively collaborate. A willingness to jump in and help when needed, learn new skills.
