Purpose of Role:
The role is part of the Competitive Intelligence, Pricing and Promotions Analytics team. The primary purpose of this role is to develop and deliver analytical solutions that would provide a holistic view of the pricing ecosystem, surface pricing opportunities, generate pricing recommendations and measure the business impact. This would involve actively partnering with the product and engineering teams, understanding requirements, and translating them into analytical solutions that would help accomplish key pricing or promotions goals. They would act as a data and thought leader for the vertical they will be leading and helping across the team through mentoring and building reusable assets.
Key Responsibilities:
The role is centered around understanding and delivering analytical solutions in the domain of pricing, promotions and competitive intelligence which translates to the following capabilities:

  • Business problem solving:
    • Understand the interplay between various data sources within Lowe’s, existing analytical platforms and pricing organization needs. Understand business context in depth and translate it to clear outputs. Wear the business hat and present a point of view within a cross functional team that ensures the final analytical solution fits the business needs and can generate tangible impact.
    • Ability to drive and present insightful approaches to better pricing decisions independently: Have strong hypotheses, understand the data needed to conduct the analysis, perform the analysis, synthesize the outputs to an executive-friendly format
  • Technical expertise:
    • Our analytical solutions require technical expertise in manipulating large volumes of data into usable format through the extensive use of SQL, R (and Python optional) to ensure that we can flexibly meet business requirements
    • Further expertise is needed to develop and deploy complex dashboards in Tableau to meet customized needs/ analyses
  • Leadership: Every day, sometimes every hour counts. The senior analyst would play the point person for the end quality and timely delivery of the solution. The role needs high ownership and leadership skills to rally a team from different departments, manage work dependencies from different contributors to successfully deliver the project.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Data or Information Sciences, or related field AND 6 years of related experience

OR

  • Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Data or Information Sciences, or related field AND 4 years of related experience

ALSO

  • 6 years of experience using analytic tools (e.g., Python, SQL, SAS, R, Adobe, Alteryx, Knime, Aster, Base SAS, SAS Enterprise Miner, Enterprise Guide)
  • 3 years of experience working with Enterprise level databases (e.g., Hadoop, Teradata, GCP, Azure, Oracle, DB2)
  • 4 years of experience using enterprise-grade data visualization tools (e.g., MicroStrategy VI, Power BI, Tableau)
  • 3 years of Functional experience performing predictive analytics at a large scale enterprise
  • 6 years of experience performing advanced data modeling, data mining and exploratory data analysis (e.g., linear/logistic regression, ARIMA, Cluster Analysis)
  • 6 years of experience translating business requirements in analytics models
  • Experience working cross-functionally
  • 5 years presenting/communicating analytics results to business partners


PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience with data manipulation using SQL, R and Python, and highly proficient in data visualization through Tableau, Power-BI and BI visualization tools
  • 5-7 years of prior experience both performing and structuring advanced analyses independently
  • Practical knowledge of databases, schema design and query optimization
  • Desire to get into the most granular details of technical/ implementation/ operational issues and being an individual contributor while being a mentor to junior Analysts
  • Solid understanding of statistical methods and analytical frameworks
  • Experience in developing and maintaining measurement metrics and standardized outcome metrics based on business requirements
  • Experience in working with a cross-functional team, influencing stakeholders and team members in driving the analytical solution end to end
  • Master’s degree in Analytics, Data sciences, or any quantitative discipline,
  • Experience with product and/or retail analytics, especially pricing, is a huge plus
  • Proficient in application of Statistical Methods
