We are looking for experienced data scientists who are passionate about using artificial intelligence to address the challenges of cybersecurity products and businesses. As a senior data scientist at Palo Alto Networks, you will be responsible for working with different internal & external customers to build machine learning solutions to solve critical problems in product and business operation. With consistent innovation, you will develop and deliver tools and products that provide actionable recommendations to business partners. You will also contribute to producing patents for corporate intellectual property.

Your impact:

  • As part of the IT Data Science team within the CIO organization, develop machine learning algorithms and statistical models to drive effective product, marketing, and personalized customer experience, e.g., propensity models, uplift models, next-best recommendation systems, etc.
  • Own the full lifecycle of ML model development from ideation, data exploration, algorithm design, validation, and testing. Work closely with data engineers to develop modeling data sets and pipelines. Collaborate with DevOps team to deploy models in production, set up model monitoring, and in-production tuning processes.
  • Be a master in cross-functional collaboration by developing deep relationships with key partners across the company. Discover new opportunities to apply ML techniques to solve critical problems and design a high-value roadmap that scales the impact of ML for customers.
  • Constantly learn, have a clear pulse on innovation across the enterprise SaaS, data science, product telemetry, customer data, and analytics communities.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, or other relevant quantitative fields.
  • 2+ years industry/academia experience using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques such as clustering, linear and logistic regressions, PCA, gradient boosting machines (GBM), support vector machines (SVM), neural networks (e.g., RNN, CNN, LSTM), and other deep learning models (e.g., BERT). 
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, R, Scala, Java.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL with strong data exploration and manipulation skills.
  • Experience using cloud platforms such as GCP and AWS for model development and operationalization is preferred.
  • Superb quantitative reasoning and interpretation skills with strong ability to provide analysis-driven business insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, ability to work well with peers and leaders across analytics, product, marketing, and engineering organizations.
  • B2B product & customer data experience is a big plus. Advanced cybersecurity product knowledge is also a plus.
