Job Description

We are looking for an experienced data scientist to join our innovative Data Science organization. As part of our Data Science team you will use big data tools and your programming, quantitative modeling and machine learning expertise to deliver valuable insights that can be deployed as data products at scale. To be successful at Jornaya you will need to embrace being a full-stack data scientist and execute with a builder's mindset. You will encounter all aspects of the data science process - from data collection, analysis and modeling to solution architecting, engineering, and model deployment to business analysis and communication of results to relevant business units. You will also be working with truly Big Data: we witness over 500 million unique consumer purchase activities a month, all collected in a manner which prioritizes consumer privacy. 

As a Senior Data Scientist at Jornaya, you will have the opportunity to work on:

• Applying graph algorithms and advanced clustering analytics to enhance Jornaya's consumer identity graph 
• Using NLP frameworks to categorize consumer events from Jornaya's network and from external event data sources
• Building and deploying predictive models and consumer journey analytics leveraging best practices for model management lifecycle 
• Contributing to data product development: proposing product enhancements, exploring alternative use cases with standard products, and developing new product ideas through prototypes and PoCs
• Engaging with engineering teams to implement proposed modeling solutions and product enhancements
• Collaborating with other Data Scientists to further the team's analytical acumen, expand our inventory of approaches and promote a data-driven culture across the company 

Qualifications

• Deep quantitative skillset that includes formal training in applied mathematics, statistics and/or computational sciences
• Subject-matter expertise in the application of machine learning algorithms and predictive analytics to data product development 
• Hands-on experience with architecting predictive modeling solutions to be used in production environments
• Expert-level proficiency with SQL and Python as tools for data processing, visualization, analysis and algorithm development 
• Experience developing data and analytical solutions leveraging distributed computing platforms and big data technologies (e.g. Spark, Hive, Presto) 
• Extensive hands-on experience developing with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, or others
• Experience developing cloud-based data and analytical solutions

Nice to Have

• Prior experience applying deep learning methodologies and frameworks such as MXNet, TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch to NLP-related problems
• Analyzing graph data using graph-specific algorithms and data stores
• Experience in developing data pipelines and machine learning models in Spark 
• Experience developing solutions with AWS services such as S3, EMR, SageMaker, Athena, and Redshift 
• Served as a member of an agile (Scrum/Kanban) product or engineering team 
• Familiarity with software development tools, processes, and the software development lifecycle
