You’ll join the San José hub and be part of Periscope. Periscope is part of the Marketing & Sales (M&S) Solutions team in the Marketing & Sales Practice. M&S Solutions was set up to house all the Marketing and Sales Practice’s repeatable analytics, repeatable digital, and solutions. This is part of the firm-wide effort called New Solutions to build more asset-led consulting capabilities.

What You'll Do

You will lead a team of data engineers to determine database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming, and review objectives with clients and evaluate current systems.

As a data expert, you will design and drive the ETL development. You will plan, organize and drive development work, and undertake complex analysis to accomplish the project objective. You will also develop ETL core modules and lead junior resources in the development of remaining ETL.

You will develop database solutions by designing proposed systems, defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, as well as maintain database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems. You will calculate optimum values for parameters by evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases, and will complete maintenance and answer questions. You will also provide database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.

You will ensure optimization and automation by working on existing sub-optimized processes to identify room for improvements. You will design and drive the work plan for the optimization/automation and standardization of the processes.

As part of your responsibilities, you will be in charge of independently designing presentations to summarize the result of analysis for results presentation purposes.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to develop deep understanding of the domain/ across pricing, promotions, trade architecture and assortment.

You will have the responsibility to ensure teamwork by developing cross-site relationships to enhance idea generation, setting and managing partner expectations. You will coach and mentor new hires by sharing business, functional and technical expertise. Lastly, you will collaborate with the team in coding, testing and executing project requests, and you will support ongoing business processes by delivering high quality products on time and performing quality checks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree; masters degree preferred
  • 11+ years of relevant and professional work experience
  • Expertise in a number of the following technologies - e.g., Python, Perl, Shell, SQL, T-SQL, PL-SQL, or related
  • Strong coding/development abilities in the field of data manipulation and ETL
  • Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources and automation of data processes, and strong understanding of data-warehousing and data lake concepts
  • Experience overseeing the data stream of multiple projects including client deployment, integration & migration (PM)
  • Experience working in big data and cloud architecture; Amazon web services a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and ability to interact in a fluid and demanding environment where priorities evolve constantly
  • Self-motivated with strong sense of ownership, action-oriented mindset and high level of entrepreneurship
  • Experience in leading teams and mentoring others, and able to work well within teams across continents/time zones
  • Willingness to travel
  • Intellectual curiosity, along with excellent analytical, problem-solving and quantitative skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
  • Outstanding project management skills
